Gates: WorldWide General Availability of Vista & Office 2007 webcasts (soon)

Neowin.net News Post

---

I stopped of at PC World today and they had about 3 machines sitting out running Windows Vista (of course you couldn't buy them, until the official date).

So, we mark the end of XP, and welcome a whole new experience.
It is indeed a remarkeable operating system. I'm running it right now, and I quite intend to buy it enventually, instead of using this 30 day trial (;)). It's outstanding in features, speed, and eventually compatibility (although quite a lot of programs, surprisingly, are compatible with it). It's, in my opinion, worth buying, even if it is at such a high price.
Everywhere I go on the web it seems to be getting great feedback. I think a congratulations to MS is needed, even though Apple decided to release a huge UK ad campaign to coincide with the Vista launch.

I can't wait until I get it, whenever that may be :p
I don't like the UK ads as much as the original ones (North American). Both the PC and Mac look the same :p

Microsoft finally started to do some good for a change. I saw Office 2007 and it looks great.

I thought I'd seen that format of ads somewhere else ... btw the Mac and PC are played by an actor/comedian "double act" kinda pair who are quite well known in the UK (they've had several TV shows etc) and don't seem that similar to me

It may look great but once you try using it it becomes very annoying (or at least it annoyed me). They probably should've included a "old menu style" option. I really don't like it as it is without a long time to get used to it.
@ the andyman: I don't actually have office installed yet, but on the note of Menus, the windows Start Menu itself has changed once again. However, I'm disapointed because you can choose classic, or Vista style, but not XP style. The menu no longer has the same style as the right click menu, it's all in that box that appears when you first click the start button.

I could of had Vista over a month ago. However I simply haven't had the time to install it :p.
Ross, did your new laptop come with the "upgrade to Vista for free/ a small price when it's out" thing?
A free upgrade to Home Premium :p
Has anyone seen the "Official Windows Vista Magazine" (UK only I think - or at least the 'version' I'm thinking about)? I saw it in Sainsbury's at lunch today and it's only 99p as an introductory price for the first issue so I might get it some other time. I was just wondering if anyone had seen because I think it might only be about simply introducing the main features of Vista therefore not too interesting to people who already know them/about them (like me).

EDIT: I've just read about it here which says that it explains installing Vista and getting your current PC ready to install it, so it might be worth me buying it for later.
