not sure where i should've posted this but here is a nice spot....
group convos! like them. great idea. however, i hate getting added into group convos when i really dont want to be there.
and so, here is my question...is there a way of making messenger ask for my permission before dropping me into the conversation?
I believe there's a script for Messenger Plus! Live that has some functionality for this. However, all it does is show you a window asking you if you want to allow the conversation or not. The conversation is popped up anyway. I have wanted a feature like this for a very long time, and have failed miserably in my search for something that does this properly. When you are added to a conversation, the button clearly says "invite" and not "force into conversation". As well, this will release your email address to people, which is something you may not want.
On top of this, there are many people who simply add random people, just to see how many people they can add in one conversation (I think the maximum is 12 btw). This is something that should be in Windows Live Messenger in the first place, because they named their feature by it, "invite".

uh...so does this script serve any kind of purpose? is it worth getting?

This is the script Lou is talking about:
Group Chat Warning, I've used it for a while now and it's quite useful so worth getting. It doesn't just show a window asking you if you want the conversation (although that is the main feature), if you refuse to take part in the group convo then it says "Please ask before starting group conversations" in the chat then actually terminates the whole conversation (it kicks every who was in it out using a text/server trick) then closes the conversation window on your computer.

In my experience it's more than this unless they've changed it (which would be a good idea)
.Lou Wrote:(I think the maximum is 12 btw), "invite".
actually its 19, and then more people can't join.
i actually want the ability to add more people like a yahoo messenger conference, BUT, i wish that it would have a invite system like yahoos conference windows, so that you can't just add a bunch of people to a conference without thier permission.
