iPod Touch/iPhone 2.0 - AppStore released!
Apple have released the iPhone 2.0 OS for the iPhone/iPod Touch, which includes the AppStore.

iPhone users can get 2.0 for free through iTunes, iPod Touch (iTouch) users will have to buy the software upgrade from http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/appstore/.

Some of the apps looking really cool, such as the "Remote control" app (free), more information about that
here: iPhone 2.0 firmware features snazzy little remote app.

I can't seem to buy the upgrade for the iPod Touch though, keeps throwing an error saying the iTunes store is not available, most likely due to the high load.

RE: iPod Touch/iPhone 2.0 - AppStore released!
I walked past a local O2 shop this morning and there were quite a few people queuing up to get their 3G iPhones, got the laugh at this and this though :p

Have you got the latest version of iTunes (7.7 afaik) Chris as that might be able to fix your problem ...

RE: iPod Touch/iPhone 2.0 - AppStore released!
Yeah I have it, its the iTunes Store, there's lots of users with the same problem - the servers can't take the load.

Apperently the shops are telling people who are buying the iPhone 3G to just go home and try activating it.

Quote:Apple has confirmed to us that activation is down, and that customers are being asked to take the phone home and activate via iTunes later. We're not sure what good that'll do, since the servers are down no matter where you are, but Apple says it's "working on a solution." In the meantime, it looks like the new SIM works in first-gen units, so at least upgraders aren't totally phone-deprived.
